Ontario Brain Institute at the Brain Economy Summit 2025 and UNGA80 Brain Days
22 septembre 2025
This September, the Ontario Brain Institute (OBI) will join global leaders in New York City at two high-profile gatherings: the Brain Economy Summit 2025 on September 24 and the Brain Health Days at the UN Science Summit during the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) from September 24–26.
As brain health emerges not only as a medical and research priority but also as a social and economic imperative linked to national competitiveness and workforce resilience, OBI’s participation in these events reflects how Ontario’s local impact is shaping the global conversation.

- The importance of partnership and co-creation: if you want to improve brain health in communities, work with them.
- How care needs must come before scientific goals, ensuring patients get what they want before consenting to participate in research.
- Ways in which data generation reveals gaps in care as well as complement stories for advocacy. (Feedback loop starts with community generating evidence that informs policy and results in improved programs)
- Examples of brain health testing solutions in real-time ensure that they are working in the real-world.
- How solutions fit in existing care pathways, then assess the viability of creating new ones.
- Strategic alignment with complementary initiatives: Ontario's Improving Dementia Care Act or the fact that disease modifying therapies are coming to Canada.
- The Canadian Dementia Registry: an exemplary partnership model for making meaningful impacts in brain health.
Global Brain Health Action Plan, aligned with upcoming milestones including the G20 health track, the Lausanne Workshop XII, Davos 2026, and the launch of a European Partnership for Brain Health in 2026.
By contributing Ontario’s perspectives at these forums, OBI demonstrates how local innovation can shape international agendas — from advancing neurotechnology investment to rethinking dementia care. Participation in these gatherings is both recognition of Ontario’s leadership and an opportunity to help guide the global brain health movement.
