Supporting Brain Health Across the Lifespan

Join us for a lifetime of brain knowledge in three talks. From birth to adulthood to your older years, learn about the brain at each stage of life and how to maintain brain health as you age. Hear from our panel of experts in brain research, commercialization and care who will shed light on and share experiences about brain health.

1. Nurturing the Developing Brain

Much of what we know about a typically developing brain comes from research into brain disorders. This talk will feature what we know about the trajectory of brain development (0 to 25 years) from neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health conditions. Our panel of experts will also highlight ways in which we can help children and youth maintain a healthy brain and balanced well-being.

2. Optimizing the Adult Brain

Research shows that the brain continues to grow and change in adulthood (25 to 65 years), especially through neuro-engagement or effort-based learning. This talk will explore how to establish good brain health habits through environment and behaviour, which regulate brain function and structure and can protect or repair brain damage and disease.

3. Supporting the Elder Brain

As we age, maintaining brain health becomes more critical than ever. The ‘Supporting the Elder Brain’ talk will explore differences between age-related cognitive changes and warning signs that may require medical attention. Learn about existing strategies that support brain health including lifestyle changes through social prescribing as well as the benefits of proactive connection to the healthcare system.
