Developing future management talent is essential to keep up with a growing neurotechnology cluster ecosystem in Ontario.  We are ensuring a talent pool of highly qualified personnel (HQPs) is ready to support and lead the ecosystem by offering experiential learning opportunities for post-graduates.  Interns gain ‘beyond the bench’ management and leadership skills and work experiences to help them launch their careers in the highly competitive innovation ecosystem.  

We offer paid internships within OBI. Interns will gain hands-on experience and support each of the OBI teams in running their programs.

Past interns boast a success rate of over 80% in gaining full-time employment within six-months following the internship

An ideal internship candidate will be:

  • A recent graduate or postdoc in neuroscience or a related field within the last 3 years
  • Passionate about neuroscience, neurotechnology, and brain health
  • Ready to leverage the internship experience to launch an exciting career
  • Available to make a full-time commitment during the six-month placement
  • Not a previous OBI intern
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada without restrictions

Recruitment process and timelines

Recruitment notices will appear on our Opportunities page in January of each year.  The internships run in a six-month cycle, with four interns hired to start in early Spring of each year.  Please see our Opportunities page for current openings. 

OBI-supported internships at partner organizations

We also partners with organizations (companies and not-for-profits) across Ontario to support paid internship placements in their offices.  These positions may appear throughout the year and will be posted as they become available.  The basic eligibility requirements are the same as above for OBI interns, however, additional requirements and the recruitment process may vary according to the needs of each organization.
