Our Impact

From research to real-world results

Driving impact across research, commercialization, and care

Since 2010, OBI has worked to position Ontario as a global leader in brain health. By aligning the strengths of researchers, innovators, clinicians, and community partners, we foster collaboration that leads to meaningful improvements in care, policy, and commercialization.

Our impact is measured not just in discoveries, but in how we empower our partners to deliver better outcomes for people living with brain disorders.

OBI leveraged an initial $2 million gift into over $1 billion of impact on brain health. And with 1 in 3 individuals affected by a brain disorder, OBI is proud to have reached over one million people through our programs and initiatives.

Bringing Lab to Life. Together.

We recently put ourselves and our team science approach to the test, and asked the researchers, companies, and community organizations we work with if we are indeed having a positive impact on the resources and abilities they need to achieve their goals.

  • advance research through team science,
  • invest in home-grown neurotech, and
  • support person-centred research and care in communities.

We invite you to see how we have worked together with our partners to bring lab to life.

The difference a year makes: Inspired by the Government of Ontario’s re-investment in the Ontario Brain Institute, we asked some of our patient and community partners about their hope for the future of brain health. Here is what they had to say about OBI.
