OBI Contributes to New Global Standards for Digital Cognitive Assessments in Dementia Care

CEO Initiative on Alzheimer's Disease releases practical recommendations for clinic-based DCAs in Alzheimer's & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association

The Ontario Brain Institute (OBI) contributed to the development of new international standards for digital cognitive assessments (DCAs) in dementia care, released this week by the Global CEO Initiative on Alzheimer's Disease (CEOi).

The manuscript, titled 'Acceptable Standards for Clinic-Based Digital Cognitive Assessments – Recommendations from the Global CEO Initiative on Alzheimer's Disease', provides practical guidelines to support the effective development and meaningful clinical implementation of DCAs.

Christa Studzinski, Head of External Relations & Partnerships at OBI, served on the international working group that developed the recommendations. The collaboration brought together experts from across the dementia care ecosystem to translate emerging evidence into actionable clinical standards.

The publication represents an important step in ensuring digital cognitive assessments can be integrated effectively into clinical practice. The guidelines aim to support healthcare providers in adopting innovations that translate into measurable improvements in patient care.

Digital cognitive assessments are increasingly being explored as tools to support earlier detection, monitoring, and management of cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The new standards provide a framework for evaluating and implementing these technologies in clinical settings.
